Each appointment is tailored to the clients individual needs. Ear Care advice will be provided prior to and after each appointment. Micro-suction does not require lengthy use of softening, although in line with ENT UK I do advise patients to use either olive oil drops or sodium bicarbonate drops for at least 3-7 days prior to their appointment. This ensures the procedure is as comfortable and efficient as can be.

Earwax Buildup (the most common reason): Earwax is naturally produced by the ear and protects the ear, but too much can harden and block the ear canal, causing a feeling of fullness or muffled hearing.
Pressure Changes: Can occur for multiple reasons. Flying, diving, or being at high altitudes can make the Eustachian tube struggle to balance air pressure, leading to a blocked feeling. (Derby Ear Clinic can undertake diagnostic testing of the ear to confirm this.)
Colds, Sinus Infections, and Allergies: In turn all of these things affect the Eustachian tube. Mucus and fluid from these illnesses can clog the Eustachian tube, causing a feeling of blockage.
It is important to note; - You should not put anything into your ear canal. You may traumatise the delicate skin of the ear canal or even put a hole (perforation) in the tympanic membrane (Ear Drum). The ear is self cleaning and going against this natural function may damage the ear. ENT Specialists advise the use of Olive Oil but ultimately we advise you seek Specialist Support. Please contact Derby Ear Clinic.
In short Yes! Colds, Sinus Infections, and Allergies produce mucus and fluid, this thick liquid can block the Eustachian tube, causing a fullness or blocked feeling. (Derby Ear Clinic can perform diagnostic testing of this and can then offer advice and support.)
